Decolonizing Africa
The goal for Africa is to not side with either Capitalist or Communist views, but instead use the incentives of the Non-Aligned Movement to achieve the goal of a sustainable development in a peaceful manner. Africa has had imperialist ideals control their countries for years, and starting now African countries have their independence to set forth their own rule and status. Unfortunately with no one directive and regions split on beliefs, Africa has not been able to progress into a strong unit. Under the power of the Non-Aligned Movement Africa is together with other developing third world countries, trying to find resolutions to their troubled regions. Under a peaceful manner, the only way for development is to focus on a specific region of Africa at a time. At this point in time, it is imperative that a resolution be met before anymore violence persists.
After WWII and the rise of the Cold World, Western and Eastern nations where dropping their sovereignty rule, and African countries were gaining their independence. While Cold War tensions grew this ultimately affected the violence and set a political division between countries in Africa. As countries strived to redefine themselves, it resulted in more weaponry and violence. Countries within Africa now have the independence to run themselves, but unfortunately there is no structure or guidance that is helping develop them into one cohesive unit
African counties were left to fend for themselves after European rule withdrew their control. As result of this, the country developed on its own, with no outside command or assistance. This unfortunately didn’t result in the best of outcome. Resulting from lack of economic, political development and infrastructure, African colonies are restlessness, which is ultimately, leading to fighting. With the Non-Aligned Movement Africa can focus on their countries growth without pressures from Western or Eastern Influences. To begin, Africa needs concrete regulations for how to come by their decolonization. SPECPOL must put forth guidelines and procedures for dealing with the decolonization of Africa so that it is pursued in a peaceful manner. Argentina therefore proposes a checklist of things that must be met to end the violence, conflict, and disagreement within Africa. First, mutual respect of each country, abstaining from acts of aggression or the use of force on nearby territories. Secondly, settlement on equality and mutual interest through co-operation, recognition of equality of all races and cultures within Africa. Lastly focusing on each countries individual government and infrastructure; developing the economy, increased amount of exports produced, and building one military to work together. If imperialist ideals continue to pull African colonies into different directions, progress will not occur. Non involvement from other countries is the best course of action for Africa to follow.

The Aftermath of the 1956 Hungarian Revolution
Fed up with Soviet rule the Hungarian people demonstrated in a revolution that resulted in over 200,000 refugees fleeing Hungary. The Hungarian government, which mocked the Soviet Union implemented limits on free speech, individual liberty, imprisoned Hungarians who opposed there government, and developed the AVH (Hungarian Secret Police). The uprising of the revolution was due to many causes that followed back to the Soviet Government.
With no aid from the United States or help from the UN, Hungary only had one outside source, the Red Cross. While the Soviet Union was taking control of Hungary, hundreds of thousands fled to nearby countries, including Austria, Yugoslavia, and the United States. The large outcome of refugees leaves SPECOL in the position on how to resolve this situation. It is our duty to work together with NGOs and authorities to support, and provide human rights to refugees, while resolving this conflict peacefully.
With the United States and the UN participating in other international affairs, Argentina suggests that it would be best for SPECOL to use these propositions to gain the best resolution for Hungarian refugees. First, teaming up with the World Health Organization to help lend assistance to refugees carrying health problems. Second, to improve access to territories and asylums. Third, engage in government counterpart and civil society. Fourth, secure fundamental human rights, ensuring fair and well kept conditions. Lastly, providing long-term solutions for large numbers of refugees and create projects for housing. The safety and welfare of these refugees is the number one goal to ensure. Following these guidelines Hungarian refugees would be ensured safety and well displacement.
