We face a difficult time as a country. Rome is expanding at great rates, and wars are breaking out amongst our different empires. I, Titus Quinctius Flamininus, have lead our powerful country to many victories in war, and have proven to others that our army is not one to be reckoned with. But the way we govern now is not working. We must allow the cities we conquer “freedom.” Through “freedom” and intimidation our country will grow to become the biggest empire the world has ever seen.
When I was leading the Roman forces against Philip V of Macedonia, I would allow the cities I conquered their “freedom” so long as they swore allegiance to the Roman Empire. This “freedom” did not allow for the cities or states to stay their own, it simply gave them so small form of governmental power, but the main controller of the city or state was and is still Rome. Saying they have “freedom” simply is just a way for them to feel like we don't have all the power.
But this “freedom” will not help with the reforms on its own. We must strike fear into the people. Everyone must know that our army is the strongest army out there, and that we will not tolerate for any form of war against our government. We must march into the cities that believe they can over rule our power, and prove to them that we are not to be questioned. That we hold the power over them. That we are in charge, and that they cannot push the “freedoms” that we give them.
Our empire is on the brink of war with itself. We must make these changes now and preserve what power we have left. We cannot stand for our empire to be torn apart by this. We must build our army with the people, and make what cities and states we have now know that we are in charge, but with the “freedoms” we give them show them that we are willing to share some power to strengthen the relationships we have with them.
We are one of the strongest empires out there, but we must strength ourselves now, before we continue to expand. The wars within our boundaries must stop, and we must fully unite to become the strongest empire in the world. I am excited to discuss with all the plans in order to preserver our empire.
